ADULT ED: DRAWING FOUNDATIONS (Tier 2)

Structured Skill-Building for Every Level

Tier 2: Light, Shadow, and Dimensionality Make your drawings pop off the page.

Building on the structural skills of Tier 1, this module teaches you to accurately represent light and shadow to give your subjects weight, depth, and a sense of reality. In this tier, we move beyond simple lines to explore the 5 Elements of Light, mastering the gradients and "shadow maps" that reveal true form.

Whether you’re continuing from the previous tier or joining us for the first time, this class provides a supportive space to refine your skills and embrace the learning process. Each session begins with a fundamentals review, ensuring new students are quickly onboarded while returning students deepen their mastery through targeted practice.

How the Tiers Work (The "Join Anytime" Model)

Our curriculum runs in three 4-week modules. Because the fundamentals are woven into every session, you can jump in at the start of any Tier.

  • Tier 1: The Architecture of Sight. Focus on lines, shapes, and 3D construction.

  • Tier 2: The Logic of Light. Mastering value scales, shadow mapping, and 3D depth.

  • Tier 3: Precision & Expression. Bringing it all together with detail, texture, and expressive mark-making.

Why this works: Every tier begins with a fundamentals overview. We’ll complete exercises which act as a "onboarding" for new students and a "mastery drill" for returning ones. Complete all three tiers to finish the full cycle!
